One of the purposes of the association is to offer temporary accommodation, acting as a launch-pad to integration through housing, supporting each resident as he or she moves towards a permanent home which meets his or her needs.
ARALIS comes after the loss or the lack of a home and before access to public or private housing. It has taken ten years to put together the tools and come up with a method for offering social support linked to housing, because the residential mobility of the most deprived people in our society requires considerable resources to be brought to bear.
In fact, it is not easy to gain access to permanent housing when you do not have much in the way of financial resources, little or no support network or when, on top of all this, you belong to a category which is likely to suffer discrimination. Linking with the environment, making the most of the know-how of people and groups are the ingredients for an overall initiative the aim of which is to allow people to escape from exclusion and to build the conditions for an acknowledged place in the social space.
